Results of 100th Anniversary of Nature Reserves and National Parks in Russia photo contest

Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation announced the winners of the 100th Anniversary of Nature Reserves and National Parks in Russia photo contest that started on June 5th, 2016.
“The main goal of the contest to promote environmental knowledge and nature conservation ideas, and develop environmental culture,” said Sergey Donskoy, head of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. “Visual images easily find their way to people’s hearts and minds; they can create and strengthen the desire to live in harmony with nature.”
The contest was also arranged to support photographers who portray the diversity of protected landscapes and animals, achievements of nature reserves, national parks and wildlife refuges, and ecotourism in protected areas.
All 1227 photos submitted for the contest by 285 authors were taken in protected areas of the Russian Federation. The winners were selected by 194,582 online voters on the website of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. The photos were grouped into 7 nominations: “Landscapes of protected areas”, “Protected animals”, “Protected plants”, “On guard of nature”, “For tourists”, “Seasons”, and “Caught in sight”.

- Alexander Isaev who won second prize in the “On guard of nature” nomination
- Victor Nepomnyaschy who won second prize in the “Caught in sight” nomination
