Khakassky Reserve celebrated the International Bird Day with a series of events.

First event was held in Tashtyp Museum of Local Lore on April 4th, 2017. The meeting gathered children from local schools and students from Tashtyp Professional School #6. Olga Filimonenko, a specialist of the reserve’s Environmental Education Department, prepared a movie lecture about birds that live in Khakassia and their migratory routes, and organized an environmental quiz game for participants.

On April 6th, Shira Central Library opened an art exhibition featuring the works created by students from School #4 under guidance of a fine arts teacher Tatiana Ponarina. The paintings depict rare and endangered birds protected by Khakassky Reserve and listed in the Red Data Book of Khakassia.

On the same day, the winners and participants of the 5-month campaign—Save the Birds’ World—from all corners of our republic were invited to awarding ceremony that took place at the main building of Khakassky Reserve.

The guests enjoyed an exhibition of works collected in a Brave Bird, Not Afraid of Frost poster contest, played a Bird Colony environmental game, and designed their own emblems for the International Bird Day. After that, a deputy director for environmental education of Khakassky Reserve Natalia Tairova awarded the winners with diplomas and souvenirs.

“Our conference hall can hardly accommodate all visitors who are here today. Each year we have new participants from different districts of the republic, and today the most active and caring about environment gathered for celebration,” said Natalia Tairova.
