Library
The Khakassky Reserve’s library received its first books as presents from Stolby Nature Sanctuary and Sayano-Shushenskiy Nature Reserve when the Chazy and Maly Abakan nature reserves were established. These were scientific papers written by the scientists of the reserves: Y. Kustov, S. Prokofiev, O. Lipatkina, S. Okaemov, G. Devyatkin, E. Ankipovich, B. Nalobin, L. Utemova, G. Kandalova, L. Galenkovskaya.
The library collection is divided into subject categories: nature reserves, wildlife refuges, national parks, botany, zoology, ecology, forest industry, geography, hydrology, geology, humans and environment. The library has more than 2 resources, including scientific papers, guides, books published by nature reserves and research institutes, and other scientific literature. There is also a collection of theses, dissertations and their summaries, newspapers, and so on.
The reserve is subscribed to such periodicals as Geography and Natural Resources, Siberian Ecological Journal, Plant Life of Asian Russia, and Steppe Bulletin—work bulletin on conservation of steppe ecosystems and sustainable use of steppes.
The library is open for everyone, and especially for scientists, students, schoolchildren, and teachers.
The Khakassky Reserve’s team is working on developing a library catalog.
