Welcome to Khakassky Reserve!
Rare and endangered species of plants and animals are the most fragile, but very important part of nature. Disappearance of any population, or any biological species is an irreparable loss for the Earth’s biodiversity. As natural communities lose their constituent parts under the impact of anthropogenic factors, the nature reserves perform the role of natural storages of genetic information.
The Khakassky State Nature Reserve is the only nature reserve in the Republic of Khakassia. It consists of 9 areas located in 5 districts of the republic. Such geographical location provides a high diversity of landscapes, habitats, and also a rich diversity of plants and animals that inhabit the protected area. The total number of plant and animal species recorded in the Khakassky Reserve is 89.7% of the total number of plants and animals of Khakassia and 40.3% of the total number of plants and animals of the Altai-Sayan Ecoregion.
All information about the protected areas is collected at the Museum of Nature of the Khakassky Nature Reserve. In addition to permanent exhibits, there are expositions organized specially for physically challenged children and children with developmental disability.
